Rock Lights, Explained

Own the night

How Lightfox rock lights work

Four small, tough LED pods that bolt into your wheel arches and under the chassis, one Bluetooth controller, and an app on your phone. Here is how the kit goes together and what it can do once it is fitted.

What's in the kit

Four die-cast aluminium RGBW pods, a Bluetooth RGBW controller with sealed plug-in leads, flat and curved mounting pads, and a screw and nut set. Everything plugs together — no soldering, no splicing pods together.

Fitting them

  1. Choose your spots — usually one pod inside each wheel arch, or two under the sills and two at the front and rear.
  2. Stick on the flat or curved pad to suit the surface, then bolt the pod down with the screws supplied.
  3. Run the sealed leads back along the chassis and plug each pod into the controller.
  4. Connect the controller to your vehicle's 12V supply (10–30V, so 24V trucks are fine too) and tuck it somewhere dry.

Run it from your phone

Pair the controller with the app over Bluetooth on iPhone or Android. From there you pick any colour on the colour wheel, set the brightness, choose a preset mode or rhythm — and switch it all off — without crawling under the vehicle.

Four chips in one

Each pod has red, green and blue LEDs to mix any colour you want, plus a separate white chip. That means the white mode is a proper clean white work light — not a bluish mix — for changing a tyre, checking your diffs or lighting up camp.

Music sync

Turn on sound-reactive mode and the pods pulse and change colour in time with whatever your phone hears — around the fire at camp, or at a 4x4 show.

Built for underneath

Die-cast aluminium housings, an abrasion-resistant finish and a reinforced polycarbonate lens shrug off rocks, grit and mud. The pods and connectors are IP68 sealed, so river crossings, the pressure washer, fuel and oil are non-events. Rated for 50,000 hours.

Use coloured rock lights off-road, at camp and while parked. South African road rules don't allow coloured lights to show while you're driving on public roads, so keep them switched off on tar.

Beyond adventure

Four pods. Any colour. Your phone.

Light up your arches and underbody, and get a proper white work light under the vehicle at camp.
