A winch pulling straight has one gear: whatever the motor can manage. Run the line through a snatch block and back to the vehicle and you have doubled the pull without spending a cent more on winch — the same motor, drawing the same current, now moving twice the load.

That's the whole point of this thing, and it's why it belongs in the recovery bag before half the gear people carry instead. Bogged to the chassis in black turf, or dragging a bakkie backwards up a bank, the difference between a winch that stalls and a winch that keeps going is usually one pulley.

Forged steel, 10 tonne rated

The body is forged steel with a 10 tonne working rating — well past what any single-vehicle recovery will ask of it. Side plates are PVC coated and the snap ring is galvanised, so mud, salt and repeated grinding against rock don't take it apart from the outside in. The finish is matte black.

Sets up in seconds

The side plates swivel open, so the line drops straight in. No dismantling, no dropped pins in the mud, no fighting it with cold hands. It takes both synthetic rope and steel cable from 15 to 20 mm.

Kinder to the winch

Halving the load on the drum means less heat in the motor, less strain through the gearbox and lower current draw from the battery. Winches don't usually fail under load — they fail from repeated heat cycles, and this is the cheapest way to avoid them. There's a copper grease nipple built in for the pulley bearing, so servicing it is one squeeze rather than a strip-down.

Pull from any angle

It also redirects the line. If the recovery point isn't in front of you — and it rarely is — you can anchor sideways and pull cleanly around the corner instead of dragging cable over an edge and ruining it.

  • Doubles winch pulling power — same motor, twice the load
  • 10 tonne rated capacity, forged steel body
  • PVC-coated side plates and galvanised snap ring — resists rust, scratching and abrasion
  • Swivelling side plates — line drops in without dismantling anything
  • Takes 15–20 mm synthetic rope and steel cable
  • Reduces motor heat, gear stress and current draw on your winch
  • Redirects the pull so you can recover from any angle without damaging the line
  • Copper grease nipple for simple lubrication and long bearing life
  • Matte black finish
  • Suits vehicle recovery, towing and general heavy pulling
